If you’re considering purchasing a disposable or refillable vape but are unsure where to start, this is the guide for you!
Well done if you’ve decided to get into vaping to quit smoking. However, with so many different vapes on the market these days, including disposable and refillable vape bars, making a choice can be difficult.
In the following article, we will compare refillable and disposable vape bars to help you make a decision that suits your needs. We’ll examine costs, flavors, customization, maintenance, and convenience.
If you’ve been trying to choose between a disposable vape bar and a refillable one but didn’t know which was the best option for you, you’ve come to the right place.
What Is a Disposable Vape Bar?
Disposable vape bars, also known as disposable vapes or disposable e-cigarettes, are compact, single-use vaping devices that come pre-filled with e-liquid and a built-in battery. Once the e-liquid is depleted or the battery runs out, the entire disposable vape bar is discarded and replaced with a new one.

What Is a Refillable (Reusable) Vape Bar?
Refillable vape bars (refillable pod systems) are vaping devices that allow users to manually refill the e-liquid and recharge the battery.

Comparing Disposable and Refillable Vapes
In this section, we’ll be making a comparison between the pros and cons of choosing a disposable vape or a refillable vape.
|Factors||Disposable Vapes||Refillable Vapes|
|Cost||Cheaper initially||Long-term savings potential|
|Flavor Options||Limited choices||Endless e-liquid variety|
|Customization||No customization options||You can try different tanks, coils, and mods|
|Maintenance||Easy to use and dispose of||Requires charging, refilling, and coil replacement|
|Convenience||High convenience, but higher costs||Slightly less convenient, but cost-effective|
|Best for||Part-time vapers, those unsure whether vaping is for them, beginners||Dedicated vapers ready for long-term savings and customization|
1. Cost Comparison: Long-Term vs. Short-Term Vaping
The first factor you need to consider is cost. A disposable vape is going to be your cheapest option initially. However, if you keep vaping for a long period, then the costs associated with disposable vape bars will be higher than a refillable vape. Disposable vape bars are a great way to try vaping, but they can be expensive in the long term.
2. Flavor Options: Endless e-liquid options with refillable vapes
When it comes to flavor, you’re going to have limited choices if you’re using a disposable vape bar. You can only choose the flavors that the vape bars are filled with. However, with refillable vape bars, you have full access to every e-liquid flavor available on the market. This gives you literally thousands of e-liquid or vape juice flavor options to choose from, including fruits, desserts, drinks, cakes, tobacco, and much more.
3. Customization: You Cannot Customize Disposable Vape
If you’re using a disposable vape, there are no customization options. It’s ready to vape straight out of the box and comes prefilled with whatever e-liquid flavor. Disposable vape bars are great short-term, but if you’re vaping a lot or want to get more out of your vape, a refillable vape bar is a great choice. It’ll allow you to try different tanks and coils, e-liquid flavors, and even different mods.
It’s more of an investment in the beginning, but you’ll only need to replace coils moving forward, which are cheaper than buying disposable vape bars.
4. Disposable Vapes Are Easy to Maintain
There’s no denying that disposable vape bars are easier to maintain. You simply use them until they’re out of e-liquid, or they run flat, and then you throw them away and buy another. However, you’re paying for this advantage in higher purchase costs, but you’re getting added convenience.
With refillable vapes, you’ll need to charge and refill them and also replace coils about once every 1-2 weeks, depending on what you vape and how much you vape. Refillable vape vars are less convenient, but not overwhelmingly so, and the price saving long-term is worth the added inconvenience, in my opinion.
Disposable vs. Refillable Vape Bars: Which is Better?
After having vaped for over ten years, my personal choice and recommendation are to try vaping with a disposable vape bar first to see if you like it.
Once you’ve tried vaping, then switching to a refillable vape bar is going to not only save you money but also give you more options with how you vape and the e-liquid flavors you vape.
If you’re a part-time vaper or still haven’t committed 100% to vape, then disposable options would make a great choice for you. However, if you’re ready to quit smoking for good, refillable vapes are a great choice, and after ten years of vaping, I’ve never looked back at a cigarette.
Is it worth buying a reusable vape?
If you’re trying to quit smoking or just tired of paying for expensive cigarettes, then a reusable vape bar is a great choice, and you’ll quickly notice the savings compared to smoking traditional cigarettes.
Are refillable vape pens worth it?
If you’re vaping a lot, then refillable vapes are the way to go. However, if you’re only vaping every other day or on weekends, then a disposable vape may be a better option.
Are disposable vapes stronger than refillable ones?
How strong your vape is depends on the strength of the e-liquid. However, refillable vape bars give you more options regarding flavor and strength.
How long do reusable vapes last?
It all depends on what type you buy. I bought a larger mod-style vape, but I get at least 12 months of use before considering upgrading. Coils in reusable vapes last between 1-2 weeks, but it depends on what type of e-liquid you’re vaping, the PG/VG ratio, and how often you use it. If you look after them and don’t drop them or get them wet, they’ll last a long time.
Why do disposables taste better than refillable ones?
Disposable vapes allow you to choose a vaporizer and e-liquid flavor. However, refillable vapes give you the choice of better quality e-liquids with more flavor options which often taste better than the e-liquid which comes in a disposable vape. Still, it all depends on how much you’re willing to spend. Cheap vapes are often cheap for a reason!
